White Gold Club 2008 Winter News

We have now had our wine studio here in Renwick, Marlborough open for eight months and have had the pleasure of meeting several of you during your travels and intend keeping our increasing database, email and mail order customers and friends in regular contact with any news regarding our wines and vineyard activity.

Pinot Gris is our chosen specialty and our 2007 Reserve has done us proud achieving an Air New Zealand Silver Award and we are thrilled to announce our latest award is the Cuisine Magazine 4 Star Award. Cuisine tasted 112 Pinot Gris wines from around New Zealand and we were one of eight awarded and featured in Cuisine's March 2008 issue. The judges' comment was 'A bold statement from a new label.'

Harvest 08

The Pinot Gris and Gerwurztraminer harvest went very smoothly thanks to a wonderful team of 60 pickers and helpers who assembled at the crack of dawn in order to hand harvest the fruit to get to the processing plant in a cool prime condition. We achieved this goal in just a few hours. We followed our fruit into the processing plant and watched our hard labour transfer into the wonderful hands of our winemaker Gordon Ritchie. We have been to the winery on a few occasions now to taste the wine as it develops. It is shaping up superbly and due for release in October so keep an eye on our website for details.

This year we are very pleased to announce that on April 17 Howard & his very good friend Todd personally picked our first harvest of the red varietal. It will be exciting to see this red beauty and we look forward to its premier launch.
Bud's Spot:

Woof! I've been spending a bit of time chasing dad around the vineyard on his tractor. It is lots of fun racing between the vines now those pesky grapes have gone! Mum has a special rug for me out the back of the tasting room and now the weather is cooler I'm making a beeline for it so I can get some well deserved sleep after annoying Freckle the cat!!
